Prayers For At The Destination

Phil McCarthy • October 18, 2026

And people will come from east and west, and from north and south,

and recline at table in the kingdom of God.

And behold,

some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

Luke 13:29-30

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Lord Jesus Christ,

As this pilgrimage comes to an end,

I give thanks for the journey and for my safe arrival.

Help me to walk in newness of life.

By your Spirit, transform me into your likeness.

Give me your… [here mention any attributes of Jesus you want to grow in, such as humility, compassion, etc.]

Jesus, fill me with your life and love.

I ask this in your Holy Name.

Amen.

Prayer of St Richard of Chichester

Thanks be to thee, my Lord Jesus Christ,

for all the benefits thou hast given me,

for all the pains and insults thou hast borne for me.

O most merciful redeemer, friend and brother,

may I know thee more clearly,

love thee more dearly,

and follow thee more nearly, day by day.

Amen

A Prayer for Your Intention

Lord Jesus Christ,

By your Passion and Resurrection you obtained for me

the power to strip away the old self and to step into new life.

As I cross the threshold of this holy place,

I leave behind… [mention anything you want to leave behind]

Show me your mercy, and

may (name of the saint of the shrine) come to my aid.

I ask this in your Holy Name.

Amen.

A pilgrim practice at the end of the journey: Light three candles

One for your own intentions and for any that others have asked you to pray for,

One in gratitude for the people who helped you along on the Way,

And one in hope for those who will follow you.
